Hangover 2.. Best bad sequel

Why is it that sequels are never as good as the first movie? Well, for starters, the second movie is trying too hard to out beat the first. You also have high expectations for the second movie. In Hangover 2’s case, the jokes were overplayed, nothing new. I’m not saying the movie was bad, but it was mediocre +_O. I got a couple of laughs in but I wasn’t blown away like the original. It’s like the directors wanted to push the jokes as far as they could…

At the same time, I didn’t expect it to be any different, I knew the movie would have the same structure as the first movie. Most sequels are done quickly so that they can follow the release of the original in a short period of time, so maybe less thought and effort are put in as has been put in the first one.

The idea of sequels is great, we love the movie so much that you just cant get enough…but if the sequel is bad, than you can’t stomach for more. Nothing is worse than ongoing sequels, going from bad to worse…

Not all sequels are horrible…Example: Lord of the Rings…movies based on books that have sequels, trilogies, etc, usually turn out ok because they are based on predetermined scripts. We already know what to expect –  can’t wait for the movie? read the book.

I tried thinking of all the movies that I’ve seen with sequels and here is what I came up with…

    1. I started off going from good to mediocre to just plain bad…twilight ranges in the mediocre-ish range…

and I don’t think it was a bad movie, maybe over-hyped but not bad

everyone is entitled to their own opinion 🙂
